A "Slow Pace' and a generally lazy day

This morning was a definite 'sleep in' type of day.  I think we made it until 8:00.  Not bad if you remember that this is 1:00 in the afternoon in Boston!  Much of this was probably due to our 5 course dinner last night and the after effects to our systems!  Andrea was suffering a bit more than I was, but it was clearly a day to take it easy.

We were quite restrained at the breakfast buffet to allow things to settle down.  It was another beautiful morning, but we skipped the long walk and swimming, postponing those until after lunch.  Laziness was in full gear.

We had a light touch on lunch as well, splitting a sandwich from the lobby store.  Once fortified and a bit rested we headed out on a walk along the beachfront to the east of the hotel.  This led us on an interesting walk along the coast.  The first 20 minutes was in the sand, which was really tiring.  After that we found a trail about 20 feet back from the trees along the beach.  It was much easier walking and nicely shaded.  We followed that to a small protected beach area called Keiki Beach, or children's beach.  It was low tide, but there was still a wonderful shallow area of water being enjoyed by small children.  We took a couple of photos and then headed back to the 'adults' beach closer to the hotel.

We found a couple of lounge chairs under an umbrella and camped out for a while.  I went for a swim while Andrea took a rest on the chaise.  The water was wonderful with lots of people snorkeling.  I wish I had rented some gear!

Back in the room we rested, checked emails and painted for a while t.  At around 4:00 I was ready for another swim so went down to the pool to loosen up a bit.  On the way back I grabbed a couple of virgin pina coladas!  That seemed to hit the spot for both of us!  Then we slipped back into the routine of afternoon showers getting ready for the evening.

We headed out around 6:30, having watched the sunset from our balcony.  We thought we would try to get a seat at the bar at the Beach House at Roy's........and luck was on our side.  We got two great seats!  Fun time there followed by a walk back to the Sunset Grille.  While we had a reservation at Aliaha at 7:45, we opted to hang out down by the pool.  Instead of another upscale meal, we had a great Mahi Mahi sandwich with fries and chips.  Delicious end to the day!

Beautiful clouds today!

When we left for our walk after lunch the lobby was totally packed, with a long line of people waiting to check in.  Apparently there were a couple of large groups arriving by bus.  The line at the desk must have been 30-40 people deep.  When we returned two hours later, the line was just as long.......must be a busy weekend coming up........just crazy!
